Centre News - March 2009

Want to make the most of your funding opportunities?

We know that many of our ILM centres are exploring the often complex world of funding for the first time. To help you, we’ve put together some funding FAQs for our English Centres. We’ll be updating our other national pages throughout the month. Additionally, if you have any further funding related questions that we haven’t covered, contact our Customer Services Team and we'll aim to get back to you within 5 days.

Funding update for Welsh centres

If you are recruiting graduates you could benefit from the recently announced £17 million initiative to support training and development in Wales. This funding is channelled through Go Wales, the support programme for small/medium businesses which enables them to use graduate skills more efficiently.

Scottish centres – learner info

Each learner in Scotland is given a unique learner number known as the Scottish Candidate Number (SCN). This is their personal lifetime candidate number, provided and maintained by the Scottish Qualification Authority. The SCN database allows learners to update their Scottish Qualification Certificate (SQC) each time they achieve a new qualification.

When registering candidates for SVQs, centres are requested to complete the SCN section. If the candidate’s SCN is not known, it can be obtained by ringing the SQA helpdesk on 0845 279 1000.

Enhanced website coming soon...

Over the next few months you will notice a number of improvements to the ILM website that will make it quicker and easier for you and your colleagues to access the information you need from us. Most importantly for ILM centres, will be a new login process to allow anyone working for a centre or provider to register for a personal login to the Centres area of the website.

We will also be improving the Centre search, to enable learners and employers to search for approved learning providers by postcode, region or via an interactive map. Other improvements will include online events booking, free studying membership sign-up for tutors and a streamlined application process for members and studying members.

We will be sure to let you know when these changes are being made, together with more information on how to make full use of the enhanced ILM website, nearer the time.

In the meantime, if you have any questions about the website, please email our Customer Services team
