Walled garden - important changes
Users of ILM's Walled Garden will be delighted to know that the system is about to be updated. A new Walled Garden is due to be launched in April 2012. The new system will allow you to:
- track your orders in real time
- load up to 999 learners on one order
- report on learners, cohorts, orders, results, invoices and credit notes
- enter results online (direct claims status)
- enter results online (non-direct claims status) for EV to release when sampling is completed
- view a catalogue of all ILM products
- order only the products that you are approved for.
It will also allow you to electronically upload data for registrations and results, amend learner details online, including amendments, transfers and deleting cohorts and individual learners but more importantly it will make the administration much faster, easier and reliable.
More information about the changes and about training on the new Walled Garden will be appearing shortly.
In the meantime the current Walled Garden will be closed for maintenance over the weekend of 27-29 January 2012.
New year reminder
During 2011 we updated a number of qualification specifications. Remember to download and work from the latest versions - available in the revised centre resources section.
Assessment support
We have uploaded a set of Sufficiency Descriptors to support assessment of a selection of Level 2, 3, 4 and 5 Management units. Download them in the resources area.
New learning resources
We have teamed up with Video Arts, the UK's leading provider of training videos, to offer a comprehensive learning resource package to support the delivery of Level 3 Award in Effective Management. Download the resource card or read more on the Video Arts website.
Apprenticeship updates
1. Key skills proxies
The National Apprenticeship Service (NAS) has stated that proxies for the key skills elements of apprenticeship packages will no longer be accepted - all learners must achieve (or have achieved) one of the qualifications listed in the frameworks for each transferable skill. No other qualifications can be accepted.
2. Apprenticeship certificates
Current system:
The Council For Administration (CfA), guided by Alliance of Sector Skills Councils, has clarified the instructions on the issue dates appearing on apprenticeship certificates. The completion date on the certificate should be the date the certificate is printed - an apprenticeship has not been achieved until all the evidence has been submitted and quality assured by the Certificating Authority (in our case the CfA).
In addition, all certificate requests submitted to the CfA must be accompanied by an Apprenticeship Certificate Request Authorisation Form, signed by the apprentice upon completion of the framework and attached to the application. CfA will return any requests that are not fully compliant. Forms can be accessed here: apprenticeships certification and registration.

The Alliance of Sector Skills Councils has announced plans to roll out a new certification service that will provide successful apprentices with a certificate approved by the Minister of State for further Education, Skills and Lifelong Learning, which at his request includes either bronze, silver or gold foil seals:
- Bronze this seal appears on the certificate issued to apprentices who completed an Intermediate Apprenticeship.
- Silver this seal appears on the certificate issued to apprentices who completed an Advanced Apprenticeship.
- Gold this seal appears on the certificate issued to apprentices who completed a Higher Apprenticeship
This new system called ACE will be operated by CfA on behalf of the apprentices. Read more on the Alliance website.

ILM changed banks at the end of last year, moving from the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) to Santander. Please make sure you have made a note of, and are using, the new account details.
