An overview of the qualifications

These new qualifications will replace our existing leadership and management NVQs, which expire with the withdrawal of the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) in December 2010.

Simply click on the qualification titles (above) to view summary qualification structures, Rules of Combination and unit specifications (subject to accreditation by OfQual). We are currently in the process of finalising full ILM Qualifications Specifications for these four new QCF NVQs.

How are QCF NVQs structured?

The QCF NVQ qualifications are made up of over 70 new units of assessment based on the six areas of the 2008 Management and Leadership National Occupational Standards. These units are written in a new and improved QCF template, which also lists the required skills, knowledge, understanding and behaviours.

How are QCF NVQs assessed?

The QCF is a competency-based framework, so the primary assessment vehicle for these new NVQs will remain a portfolio of naturally occurring evidence from the workplace to demonstrate vocational competence.  Read more about assessment of QCF NVQs.

 

How are QCF NVQs funded?

ILM new NVQ at Levels 2,3,5 are listed on the Learning Aims Database, and are eligible for funding by the SFA.  See the full list of funding qualifications.

SVQs

SVQs in Scotland will continue to be funded in the present form until the 28th February 2011 under and extension granted by SQA – the Scottish regulators.

A development plan is being formulated by SQA and the CfA to upgrade the SVQs beyond 2011. Follow the SVQs here.
