Howard Bailey - Regional Director (Yorkshire) for Striding Out CIC came to coaching over 12 years ago when researching sustainability of NGO programmes in industrialising nations. Conclusions suggested that interpersonal skills were far more important than technical knowledge - 'it's not what you do but how you do it'. A university class linked coaching to achievement effective relationship. Since then he has logged over 500 hours coaching within the corporate, education and not-for-profit sectors. In the past 3years 70% of his coaching has been in the team setting. He is a qualified co-active coach and accredited through the Association of Executive Coaches. Presently he is collaborating on 3 research initiatives. These include (1) how coaches use reflection to develop their practice (2) implementing instructional coaching to enhance learning and (3) team coaching with volunteer trustees and committees.
